PRO-DAY presents 2011 Prep Gear 1st Team All-Americans

 

Cockrum, JackCatcher – JACK COCKRUM - The 6-1, 180 lb, senior from Prairieville, LA recorded a 1.87 POP time with pin-point accuracy. Excellent  hitter, graded out an 8 in both his arm and bat. Jack hits from the left side and scored a 28 on his ACT.

Neiderland, Wes1st Base – WES NEIDERLAND - The 6-1, 160 lb, junior from Thompson, TN moves well for a first-baseman (6.98) and shows long ball power.  Wes does well with the glove around firstbase and earned an 8 on hitting.

 

 


 

Chipper, Smith2nd Base – CHIPPER SMITH - The 5-10, 185 lb. infielder out of Florence, SC has a Bo Jackson frame.   Chipper shows power and bat speed while swinging a wooden bat. He runs a 7.03 in the 60 and possess a very strong arm. Off the mound he recorded a 84/74.

Ebert, JordanShortstop – JORDAN EBERT - The only 3-time Prep Gear Pre-Season All-American. Jordan can play multiple positions very well on the field. He was the best at shortstop in 2010, although could be projected as an outfielder at the next level (6.90). The 6-0, 180 lb. junior from Foley, AL has committed early to Auburn University.  If he continues to improve with his bat, which has graded out an 8 at several PRO-DAY Showcases, he could have a couple of options available to him after high school.

Pichardo, Carlos3rd Base – CARLOS PICHARDO - The left-handed hitting third-baseman from LaRomana, Dominican Republic possess a lot of power at the plate. He can hit in the middle of any teams lineup. The 6-1, 215lb. senior , has an above average arm and superior hands from the hot corner.

Montgomery, CarnellLeft Field – CARNELL MONTGOMERY - This 5-10, 175 lb. senior from Lake City, SC has excellent speed running a 6.87 in the 60-yrd dash. Carnell has tremendous power at the plate and isn’t afraid to go deep. The three tool left-handed hitting Montgomery can gun down any would be runner from his outfield position.

Center Field – JAYLEN SPRAGGINS - This 5-9, 175 lb., junior outfielder could very well be the best athlete on the All-American Team. The Montgomery, AL standout graded out an 8 on hitting while showing strength and bat speed. Jaylen recorded a blazing 6.69 in the 60-yard dash and could very well sign in the fall of his senior year.   

 

Right Field – BRANDON PETERSON - The 6-2.195 lb., junior out of Daphne, AL has a bright future at the next level.  He possess three of the major tools in run, throw & hit. He has tremendous arm strength from right-field with pin point accuracy. At the plate, he has awesome bat speed & good balance. His 60 time was 6.93.    

 

James, JamarliUtility – JAMARLI JAMES - A 5-8, 165 lb, senior from Melbourne, FL can run down any ball from his outfield position with his blazing 6.62 speed which enables him to be a terror on the base-paths.  He hits from both sides of the plate and has strength equally proportional.  He has an above average arm and is accurate.

 


 Griffin, JamereDesignated Hitter – JAMERE GRIFFIN - The 6-0, 220lb. junior from Gulfport, MS captured the 2011 PRO-DAY “Powerade” Home Run Derby Championship in January in Orange Beach, AL. He has a very accurate arm from right-field with arm strength. A former native of Bermuda, Jamere runs a 6.95 in the 60-yrd dash.

 


 Vernon, CodyPitcher – CODY VERNON - The Tennessee junior right-hander topped out at 88/71 this season at PRO-DAY. The 6-3.185 lb, pitcher/third-baseman is from Lewisburg, TN. He can swing the bat, but his ticket on the next level is that right arm which has a chance to get even better and reach the low 90's this summer.

 


 Pitcher – JACOB RODRIGUE - A 6-3, 180 lb., RHP out of Thibodaux, LA is one of the Top Pitchers out of the 2011 Class. He is 87/68 off the mound with arm strength while his secondary position in RF.  He will have the opportunity at the next level and could help out many college rotations early on.

Pitcher – DANIEL TOCKHORN - The 6-5, 195 lb. RHP from Mid Lothian, TX has a 86 mph fastball and a 77 curveball from the hill.  Daniel is a senior at Mid Lothian High who also plays first-base. His size and potential growth this year will make him even better in the future.

Leach, BredanPitcher – BRENDAN LEACH - The 6-2, 180 lb. junior from Defuniak Springs, FL is 86/71 off the mound. The right-hander has good  control of his pitches and does a nice job locating. He can also play middle-infield. Scouts will look at him as a pitcher and monitor his progress from now till his senior season.
