ORANGE BEACH, AL -- The 2010 PRO-DAY Baseball “Prep Gear” Pre-season All-American baseball team has been selected, and the first team represents 10-southeastern states and Puerto Rico, according to Jeff Gross, President/CEO of PRO-DAY Baseball.
"This year's team has some of the top talent ever produced on the high school level,” said Gross. "Our first team consists of starting pitchers who all throw in the 91-92 mph range, outfielders who put up a 6.5 running time in the 60, plus some great hitters."
PRO-DAY Baseball is a high school baseball recruiting organization headquartered in Orange Beach, Alabama. It has produced many professional players and has helped hundreds and hundreds of players receive college scholarships over the last 20-years.
The staff evaluates talent with a 2-8 grading scale, with 8 being the highest one athlete can achieve. Each player is graded on their arm strength, arm accuracy, glove work, footwork, and hitting. Professional scouts and colleges coaches grade each player throughout the year and rank each one according to his ability. This year’s class has four standouts who received all 8's in each category of his evaluation, which is a rarity over the years.
The 2010 PRO-DAY “Prep Gear” First Team is led by these four young men, Logan Gray, senior pitcher from Lebanon, TN; Marcos Derkes, senior shortstop from San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico; Kenny Hudson, senior leftfielder from Gulfport, MS; and Travis Moe, senior catcher from Doniphan, MO.
Gray recorded one of the top speeds this year as his fastball was consistently in the 92 mph range. Derkes, a slick fielding shortstop, has all the tools at his position. Hudson with his 6.91 speed and accurate/over powering arm will keep opposing runners close, and Moe brings with him a 1.89 POP time and all the defensive skills one could only dream of to make it to the next level.
Rounding out the first team is senior first baseman Nick Gibert of Ridgeland, MS; senior second baseman DeAndre Waldburg of Decatur, GA; senior third baseman Evan Hendricks of Marietta, GA. The outfield consists of junior centerfielder Devante Taylor of Navarre, FL. Taylor made first team All-America last year as a freshman and hit an amazing 44 home runs to win the Powerade Home Run Derby Championship last year. In right field is sophomore Jordan Ebert of Perdido, AL. Ebert has 6.85 speed and was the 2010 Powerade Home Run Derby Champion.
The First Team pitching corps consists of Bernie, MO; senior right-hander Quinton Stevens who brings with him a 91 mph fastball to the first team. Senior right-hander Grant Lowman of Huntsville, AL also throws 91 mph and has total command of his pitches. Kurt Lipscomb of Anniston, AL possesses a 90 mph fastball with a 78 mph curve and is just a junior.
The designated hitter is senior catcher Caden Cleveland of Oklahoma City, OK. He was the best hitter at the "Best of the Best" showcase last year. This switch hitter has tremendous power from the left side of the plate. The utility player is senior Stephen Joe from Ridgeland, MS. Joe plays both catcher and outfield and no one wants to run on him.
The PRO-DAY Baseball All-American second team consists of catcher, Roy Moulder from Milton, FL; junior first baseman Greg Howard of Gordo, AL; Second baseman senior David Todd of Theodore, AL; sophomore shortstop John Sansone of New Castle, PA; Third baseman senior Devin Reed from Citronelle, AL.
The outfield consists of senior leftfielder Abraham Williams of Lindale, TX; Centerfielder
is Terrance Gore of Macon, GA. Gore has world class speed as he ran a Pro-Day best 6.32 in the 60; Right fielder is senior Brian Rowry of Gardendale, AL.
The pitching staff is made up of sophomore Trent Roberts of Monticello, FL; Senior Jared Romero of Tallahassee, FL; John Taylor a junior from Toccoa, GA; and sophomore lefthander Blake Latiolais of New Iberia, LA.

PRO-DAY Baseball is entering into its 21st season in evaluating high school baseball talent in the southeastern United States. "We are about giving an honest evaluation of where a young man is with his baseball tools and using that criteria to find him a place to play at the next level", said Gross. “Not everyone will be a professional baseball player, but we can help find a place for each player to get his college education and play while he is in school."
The players were selected by the staff of PRO-DAY Baseball from their performance during the course of the year, with heavy emphasis in our National Showcases and the "PREP GEAR" All-American Showcase. Former professional players and scouts evaluated the talent led by major league scout Bill Earnhart of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
