FORMER PRO-DAY BASEBALL STANDOUT TRAVIS WOOD MAKES AN IMPRESSIVE MLB DEBUT WITH THE CINCINNATI REDS

Chicago, IL -- Former PRO-DAY Baseball standout Travis Wood made an impressive Major League debut yesterday for the Cincinnati Reds, throwing a two-hit shutout thru seven innings against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

The lefthander was in control the entire game for the Reds while just throwing 91 pitches in the game while striking out four. He faced two batters in the eighth before coming out.

"He had a tremendous performance," said Reds Manager Dusty Baker.

Wood, the Reds "2009 Minor League Pitcher of the Year" participated in his first ever Showcase with PRO-DAY Baseball after his freshman high school season at Harding University in Seary (AR).

The Bryant High School (AR) standout was 87-88 at the Showcase and his future and his college/pro scouts interest was just getting underway.

"We knew Travis was going to be special and pitching in the show one day after his performance at our showcase at Harding University," said Jeff Gross, director of PRO-DAY Baseball. "The PRO-DAY Staff wish him continue success throughout his career."

The 23-year old was a second-round pick in the 2005 MLB draft and the 60th overall pick.
